Vacation Comes to a Close

I had such a great week in Michigan.  It was really nice to spend time with family.  Plus, I’m always able to relax whenever I visit my in-laws home:)

You can check out some of my Michigan shenanigans in the below posts:

When Patrick and I weren’t out exploring the town we stayed in reading, watching TV, sleeping and eating.  Here is a look at some of the food we consumed:

Morning coffee with milk and brown sugar:

Toast with peanut butter and banana slices:

Garlic Triscuits topped with Kerrygold Irish cheddar and Jalapeno slices:

My hubby took care of me when I wasn’t feeling well by making me Mrs. Grass chicken noodle soup:

A plate full of my favorite cucumber with a light ranch dipping sauce:

New Food

Patrick has been talking about Sanders Ice Cream forever so he made me try it.  Okay, he didn’t really have to make me, I’m always down for some good ice cream 😉

And good ice cream it was!  I had no problem finishing my bowl of Sanders Hot Fudge Sunday.  We might just have to make this a tradition!

I’ve previously mentioned my love of Lindemans Framboise Lambic but during this trip I decided to stray from my comfort zone and go for something a bit different.

Enter, Lindemans Peche Lambic.  The peach flavor in the beer was delicious!  It’s both Tracey and mother-in-law approved.

New Recipes

I tried out the very famous, Mama Pea Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Balls!

I’m not the best baker so I was very happy my MIL was around to help me.  Thanks mom!  Plus she was brave enough to let me handle her KitchenAid mixer.  I know what’s going on my Christmas list 😉

The cookies turned out great and were delicious!  I believe they were liked by everyone who tried them.  A total winner!

Sights

I still can’t get over the fall colors.

I thought the below gorgeous building was some sort of historical place but turns out it’s a High School.  Puts the school I attended to shame.

The Pups

Solera hates it when a member of his family leaves him.  This is the view I would see whenever I left the house:

He would stand, staring out the door for a little while and then get back to what’s important, blogging:

and sleeping:

Our dogs couldn’t be any more different.  While Solera is running around, Cappy is content chilling in his bed:

He always seems so comfortable, no matter how silly he looks:

I love my dogs and am so happy when they are able to travel with us!!!

Question:

What are your tips for transitioning from vacation life to normal everyday life?

I always try to take an extra day off of work when I get home.  This allows me to tackle all the chores that didn’t get done while I was gone.  I’m able to catch up!

I’m glad you enjoyed your vacation Tracey! But I’m sorry you got a bit sick, no fun. I think it’s great you could bring your dogs with you on vacation. That’s so nice because I would probably worry about mine (if I had a dog…) when I was away.

I think it’s a great idea to take an extra day off work after a vacation. I rarely go on vacation but I would do that too, just so I am not behind for a month!! That one day extra is so key.

    Have a great weekend!

I can’t think of a better way to get back on track — that’s great! I can’t wait to get my PTO so that I can do that, too. This holiday season with all of the traveling is going to be stressful and hectic!!

Thanks so much! I’m liking the new layout better than the old one I had 🙂

The tri-color dog is a Rat Terrier. The tan dog is a Jack Russell / Pomeranian mix. And I have to agree, they are both very sweet!
