Saturday of my Dreams
The last couple days have been extremely hot, sticky and humid in Chicago. This is the type of weather I just can’t deal with so I opted to stay indoors and do a TV marathon of Dexter. What a messed up show, but I like it. Does this make me a bad person?!? I’m going to go with no but some people might think otherwise 😉
Let’s get to the point, Saturday was one of those wonderful Chicago summer days that one can only dream of. The weather was perfection, in the 70’s, no rain, sunny skies and a light breeze. I wish we could have this weather year round but having those miserable freezing days in January make days like today that much more magical!
I was not going to spend this fab day indoors so my husband and I headed to the Apple store to try and get my computer fixed. The thing just stopped working on me right after my post on Monday, which I think is the universes way of telling me not to blog but I’m a risk taker ;). The diagnosis was that my computer could not be fixed at the store and had to be shipped off to get operated on. I will hopefully know more in about 5-7 days.
The Apple store on Michigan Avenue is large and has a great variety of free classes for both children and adults. On Saturday they were having a kids class teaching them how to make music using an iPad.
After nervously handing over my computer to be shipped off we headed to Starbucks to get caffeinated and determine what we would do with the rest of the day.
My order: Grande Iced Coffee, Extra Ice and a splash of Cream:
After downing our coffee we walked around Michigan Avenue and discovered the LightHouses on display. Here is one of the many:
We walked down to the Fourth Presbyterian Church and took a look around. I’ve walked by this church many times and have never peaked inside. It is beautiful:
If you are in Chicago or visiting I would recommend taking a look, as of this point in time they are open daily 7:30am to 4:00pm.
After walking around the church we headed for cocktails…..because that is what people do after visiting a church, right? Well, that is what these people do! we headed to the RoofTop bar of Torali at the Ritz Carlton in Downtown Chicago.
Let me tell you……this place is a hidden gem. Maybe it’s not hidden to everyone but it was for me. The atmosphere is amazing, the bartender (Beth) was wonderful and the cocktails were very refreshing.
My first drink was a Spritz which consists of Aperol, St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur, Soda, Prosecco and Lavender:
My second drink was the Lake Effect which consists of Tito’s Vodka, Green Chartreuse, Lime, Prosecco and Cucumber:
After our cocktails we headed to our final destination, the best Italian Restaurant in Chicago – Carmines. I had my usual which is Pasta fagol and a plate of delicious spaghetti and marinara. So simple yet so freakin’ good!
After our meal we headed home and I was in my PJ’s and on the couch before 4:00pm.
Great weather, great cocktails, great food and the most important, enjoying all of these things with my fantastic husband!
Saturday of my dreams, for sure!
Question:
What did you do over the weekend? How was the weather where you are?
