Eat Crap – Feel Like Crap

I learned a valuable lesson yesterday.

Want to know what it was?

Okay, here goes …

Eat crap – feel like crap.  Eat good – feel good.

Simple, right?!?

People have always told me that making bad lunch choices leaves a person feeling less then stellar in the afternoon.  Well I have a hard time believing what people say unless I experience it first hand.  Yesterday was the day I would experience this logic.

The last few lunches I’ve had have been on the healthy side and my body responded well to it.  I felt upbeat and energized during the afternoon.  However, today I ate greasy food which left me feeling sluggish and tired all night.  I really need to start listening to how my body responds when eating certain foods.

Looks like what people told me was spot on and I can now use this info in the future 😉

Breakfast

I didn’t have time to grab anything to eat for breakfast but around 11:00 am I was able to grab a Hot Caramel Apple Cider from Starbucks.  This is such a good drink!  I always order my cider without the whipped cream.  It’s helps cut down the calories and I don’t even miss it 🙂

Lunch

I’m pretty sure my lunch choice had something to do with the fact that I didn’t eat anything for breakfast.  It’s pretty much known that if I skip lunch I’m more likely to make poor lunch decisions.

Wednesday was no exception.  I stopped by McDonald’s and got some chicken nuggets which I dipped in buffalo sauce.

and I can’t go to McDonald’s without getting the fries.  They were very good!

Dinner

I tried to offset my unhealthy lunch by having a big salad for dinner.

In the Mix

  • Romain lettuce
  • Broccoli
  • Spicy corn
  • Carrots
  • Celery
  • Red pepper
  • Bacos
  • Black olives
  • Red onion
  • Light italian vinaigrette

A Limonata San Pellegrino on the side:

Exactly the meal I needed to end my day with.  Healthy, delicious and satisfying 😀

Question:

What foods makes your body feel healthy and energized?

I can’t even imagine going without breakfast at this point in my life. I get so hungry even AFTER I eat breakfast (within a couple hours) I just can’t imagine not having it. I’m sure I would make poor decisions at lunch too, if I was realllllly hungry. Considering I work at a place that sells some of the most amazing foods EVER, I’m sure I’d be doomed. But hey, sometimes if you’re craving something you should eat it…right?! Those fries do look good 🙂

I think McDonalds puts some sort of crack like addicting substance all over their fries because they are sooo soooo good! I rarely do eat them because like you said you end up feeling almost sick after. I feel best when i am eating a lot of fresh fruit and very limited processed foods!
