Sausage Fingers, Not a Good Look

I learned a lesson today that I would like to share with everyone.  If you are going to get your blood drawn, first thing in the morning, make sure you have something in your stomach.

I’ve never had a problem with getting dizzy or sick when getting my blood drawn but normally I get it done during the middle of the day when I have eaten food.  However, Monday I had my blood drawn in the morning, when I had no food in my stomach, and it made me very woozy 😕

Lesson learned; next time I will be prepared with food in my stomach.

Breakfast

My husband must have noticed I wasn’t feeling so hot.  He stood in line, at Au Bon Pain, and got me a vanilla latte:

and an asiago bagel with egg, sausage and cheese sandwich:

Fantastic bagel sandwich!  Taste so good and worked like magic.  I started feeling better as soon as I ate.  I’m a lucky girl, my husband takes good care of me 🙂

Lunch

Did you know January is national soup month?  Yep, it sure is!

I’m a soup lovin’ girl so I thought it was appropriate that I have a bowl for lunch.  To be more specific, a bowl of corned beef, cabbage and potato soup.  It was very tasty but I did pick around the corned beef because I’m not a big fan.

A side of green pepper, fennel, cucumber, dill salad with a lemon dressing:

Dinner

I was tired and not in the best of mood by the time dinner rolled around.  I didn’t feel like doing much of anything, especially cooking.  For the second time today Patrick came to my food rescue!

He prepared a veggie stir-fry with broccoli, cauliflower, peapods, peanuts and various spices:

The stir-fry was really good but after an hour I was hungry again.

Enter a snack plate with garlic Triscuits, Kerrygold aged cheddar cheese and pickled jalapeno:

All in all – it was a good food day.

Tomorrow I need to work on cutting down the salt in my meals.  My fingers are looking like sausages because of all the salt I’ve been consuming.  Know matter how pretty I make my nails look or what kind of rings I wear, sausage fingers are never a good look 😉

Question:

Have you ever gotten your blood drawn?  If so, did you get dizzy or sick?

I used to get plasma drawn (ie college kid needing cash) and would occasionally get a little light-headed. Not a fun feeling…
The salt thing is something I’ve recently had issues with. I’m on a serious General Tso kick and I’m a girl who usually eats VERY low sodium meals. I feel puffy. Gross.

The only time I got dizzy from blood was the first time I gave blood. I learned that I needed to drink a sprite while I did it so I felt ok!
So sweet of the man to take care of you! A vanilla latte sounds pretty fantastic about now. Its chilly out!!
National soup month? I’m in ! soup/stew/chili is my favorite kind of din din
